Winery facts

Quinta de Valbom with 27ha of very old vines – average of 80 years old – has an excellent enological potential for the Port Wine and Douro DOC production and it is one of the last examples of traditional viticulture in the region.
After the grapes selection, the fermentation happens in stone “lagares” along maceration by foot treading, according to the traditional practices of the region.

Terroir

Quinta de Valbom is located in Baixo Corgo subregion in the heart of Douro Wine Region. Greywacke schist complex is the composition of the vineyards soil. The Mediterranean climate, with cool or mild and rainy winters and dry summers, has a magnificent influence on the grapes quality, which allows to produce exquisite red wines.

The essence

The Douro’s heritage, identity and traditions conservation linked to the most recent viticulture and enology know-how is the aim of Herdade dos Grous team, led by the reputed winemaker Luís Duarte, for Quinta de Valbom wine production.
