VINHO REGIONAL ALENTEJANO

Winery facts

On the rocky slopes of the foothills of Serra d’Ossa , where once there was dust, rockroses, small oak trees and arid land, are now planted 10 acres of vineyards.
A vineyard that resulted from the effort, dedication and perseverance of all those that, under the Alentejo’s relentless sun, rewarded us with their work and sweat.

Terroir

The Alto Alentejo is subjected to a continental climate with very hot summers, low rainfall and very cold winters.
Site 1 – Monte do Mata Mouros, Estremoz: 10 acres of South facing hilly vineyards planted in 2005. Skeletal, lithosols, with outcrops of schist. Low fertility and low water retention capacity. Altitude: 352m.
Site 2 – Serra de S. Mamede, Portalegre: 5 acres South facing traditional terraces. 50 to 60 years old vines. Sandy skeletal, with granite outcrops. Low fertility and low water retention capacity. Altitude: 590m.

The essence

Rosa Santos Família project was born to develop and bring to the market a specific range of high quality and fully authentic wines.
With minimal intervention farming and oenology practices, we make use of the local terroir and native grape varieties, to become an established reference in the production of wines that meet the superior standards of world top consumers.
